Welcome !

Dear colleagues and friends,

Welcome to Montreux for the XXIst biennial Meeting of the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Let us join together again in the heart of Europe. To renew with an old tradition of mixing with other pediatric neurosurgeons; this year, we will have the Brazilian Pediatric Neurosurgery Society as the invited society.

The program, elaborated by the scientific committee, will be balanced with invited conferences, communications, workshops and posters. We are practicing in an evolving specialty and your personal contribution to espn 2008 will certainly bring new information in the field of pediatric neurosurgery.

The following topics have already been pre-selected:

Cranio-facial, hydrocephaly and neuroendoscopy, open and closed spinal dysraphism, with a special contribution of the brazilian neurosurgeons on open spinal dysraphism. Our Brazilian colleagues will also be involved in a panel on controversies in epilepsy surgery. Hypothalamic hamartomas: the different approaches, pineal tumors, medulloblastomas: basic science, quality of life in children with brain tumors, teaching pediatric neurosurgery, especially the value of pediatric neurosurgery mission in developing countries.

The site of the meeting, on the edge of Lake Geneva, provides a fantastic environment to make this meeting rather rich in social events and touristic attractions.

I look forward with enthusiasm to see you, as numerous as possible, at the 2008 ESPN meeting.

Bénédict RILLIET
